Judy Rowan has sung alto in the Chorale since 2019, when she was talked into it by her husband, Dick Schacht, a bass. She is past president. Judy retired as associate chancellor at the University of Illinois in 2000 after more than 30 years as an administrator. She received her bachelor’s degree in French from Oberlin College and both a master’s degree in comparative literature and a J.D. degree from Illinois. A lifelong musician, she is a pianist and the daughter of two music teachers. She favors the lower registers and has performed on baritone horn in bands and French horn in orchestras as well as singing in choruses.
