Fall Concert: Journey
Journey will feature works that explore the idea of movement through space and time, including those that reference religious pilgrimage, passage through nature, and travel through life. We’re thrilled to include flutist Bonnie Schmader as our artistic partner for this program.

The Journey concert features a unique guest artist: Bonnie Schmader is a flutist, composer, and much more. In the short video below, Bonnie talks with Music Director Fred Graham about her work as an environmental and cultural resources educator—most recently with the National Park Service. She also gives a fascinating demonstration of a Native American–style drone flute. It's just one of the flutes she'll be playing in the Journey concert. We encourage you to listen to Bonnie’s and Fred’s conversation for an explanation of how and why Bonnie began using nature sounds and incorporating them in her compositions and improvisations.
