I grew up in New York City and lived there for 56 years. I first performed at age 9 in an amateur night at a Catskills hotel, singing “Gypsy Love Song.” I did two Gilbert and Sullivans while in high school. At age 37 I joined a little opera company, doing more G&S as well as operas by Mozart, Britten and Pergolesi. For several years I directed an Episcopal choir and did musical theatre. Since then I’ve done mostly drama, in New York, New Jersey, Texas and here, including 11 seasons with the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas and four summer Shakespeare in the Botanical Garden productions with Santa Fe Classic Theater. Along the way I earned a doctorate in English at City University of New York, taught English for 20 years in the New York public high schools and 14 years at Tarrant County College, Fort Worth, serving also as department chair. Learning and singing choral music have been a challenge and a great joy.
