Soprano Dalia Melendez enjoys blending her vocal talents with her theatrical abilities. Her roles in operas, musicals, and plays include Voices of Shekhinah (Morris) as “Beruriah,” Cosi Fan Tutte (Mozart) as "Despina," Die Zauberflöte (Mozart) as "Papagena," Titanic: The Musical (Yeston & Stone) as "Alice Beane," Closer Than Ever (Shire) as "Woman," Players in the Game (Wasserman) as "Adleta," Those That Play the Clowns (Stewart) as "Fru. Gerdes," and Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare) as "Juliet." She has also contributed as a cover and chorus member in productions such as Pirates of Penzance (Gilbert & Sullivan) and Camelot (Lerner & Loewe). Throughout her career, Dalia has performed with numerous choirs, including the ENMU Choirs during their London & Paris tour and with the Concert Choir Chamber Singers from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in Carnegie Hall. She was also a member of the Swanee Singers and Chamber Singers at Eastern New Mexico University. Dalia’s passion for the arts was ignited early in her career, under the mentorship of Dr. Lorissa Mason and the late Dr. Kerry Grant Moore. These formative experiences helped shape her approach to both vocal and theatrical performance. Dalia currently studies voice under the guidance of Dr. Gregory Gallagher. Currently, Dalia is a proud member of the Sangre de Cristo Chorale, the Santa Fe Symphony Chorus, and the Music Ministry at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. In addition to her performing career, Dalia is a private vocal instructor and a certified Reiki Master Teacher Practitioner. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Theater from Eastern New Mexico University.
